Sony has confirmed a Rain release date of October 1 in the US ($14.99) and October 2 in Europe (€12.99). It has also announced multiple pre-order bonuses for the atmospheric stealth-oriented PS3 adventure including static and dynamic themes, hand drawn avatars, and music pieces from the game.
The Sony Japan Studio project is being handled by PlayStation C.A.M.P!, the development talent behind titles including Tokyo Jungle and Echochrome. It tells the story of a boy attempting to track and rescue a girl being hunted by ghostly creatures in the mysterious “world of rain”. Both characters take the form of silhouettes only visible in the rain, while players interact with the environment, solve puzzles and use the downpour to guide and protect them.
Sony has also released the Rain developer diary at the top of this page, which focuses on the game’s music. Following a look at the title in March, we wrote in this Rain preview: “Rain conveys its theme of uncertainty in a convincing fashion, even with just a few minutes of seeing the game. We’re already intrigued by the lonely, depressing world, and its invisible characters.”
