AMC’s companion series to The Walking Dead has cast two of its leading players, with Deadline (opens in new tab) reporting that Frank Dillane and Alycia Debnam Carey will star in the show.
The new series has been created by Robert Kirkman, upon whose comic-book The Walking Dead is based, and will be set at the same time as the events depicted in the original show, but in a different location.
The currently untitled show will focus upon the survival struggles of a divorced male teacher and a female guidance counsellor, who find themselves caught up in the mayhem of a zombie apocalypse.
Dillane will play the woman’s son, a recovering drug addict, while Carey will play her daughter, who is described as an “ambitious” character.
No specific air date has been confirmed as yet, but expect that to change over the coming months, with further casting anticipated imminently.
