Well, here’s hoping Microsoft has a lot of new stuff to show off at its E3 2015 (opens in new tab) conference – because Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer just took to the Xbox Wire blog (opens in new tab) to announce that three of his console’s most-anticipated games won’t be at the show:
“Having a jam-packed lineup of games to show at E3 means that there simply isn’t enough time to give each of our upcoming titles its well-deserved time in the spotlight. We’ve decided to save some of our most eagerly-awaited future titles for gamescom in August. Rest assured that titles like Crackdown, Quantum Break and Scalebound will be front and center at gamescom along with new game reveals for both Xbox One and Windows 10.”
We knew that Halo 5: Guardians (opens in new tab), Rise of the Tomb Raider (opens in new tab), Forza Motorsport 6 (opens in new tab) and either a new Gears of War or a remaster of the original (opens in new tab) would likely be taking centre stage, but I must say I expected to see updates on at least Crackdown and Scalebound, both of which got CG announcement trailers at last year’s conference.
But let’s look on the bright side – not only will pushing these games up to a headline position at another conference mean we’ll probably see more of them, but it’s an implication that there will be more unannounced fare at the Xbox presser. You can’t fill a show with four games, so perhaps that new, exclusive IP (opens in new tab) Phil Spencer talked about is just the tip of the iceberg.
