After yesterday’s momentous news that Marvel and Sony will now be sharing the rights to the Spider-Man franchise, some new details have emerged about the next Kevin Feige-produced Spidey movie, which will see Peter Parker back in high school.
While Peter graduated in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Variety (opens in new tab) reports that the new film will put him back in that setting, in order to “explore his awkward relationship with other students while fighting crime out of the classroom.”
The report also reveals that Sony is looking for an actor younger than the 31-year-old Andrew Garfield to take on the role, with Logan Lerman and Dylan O’Brien the first two names to be linked to the project.
Variety also confirms that Spider-Man will be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War, with Kevin Feige likely to have significant input into the casting of the role.
Finally, Sony will still be moving ahead with its pair of Spidey spin-offs, with Venom and The Sinister Six said to be progressing as planned.
