Got thirty minutes to kill? Care to spend that time killing hordes of zombies in a number of wacky and gruesome ways? Thanks to a promotional partnership between Capcom and the game streaming service Gaikai, players can now relive Chuck Greene’s Fortune City adventures by playing a half hour of Dead Rising 2 from the safety of their computers.
The demos is available now, and requires an internet connection and Java-enabled computer. There are a few limitations however, such as a thirty minute time limit and lack of an in-game save feature. Thankfully, players can maximize their game time by skipping cut scenes with the press of ‘ESC’.
Dead Rising 2 is the zombie-slaughtering sequel to Capcom’s 2006 Dead Rising. In it, players control a desperate Chuck Greene as he contends with the undead in the gambling oasis of Fortune City to secure anti-zombie medication for his daughter. A year after its launch for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC last September, Capcom released an alternate version, Dead Rising 2: Off The Record, starring the hero of the first game, Frank West. Gaikai’s demo, however, focuses squarely on Greene’s story.
This is the latest game to hit Gaikai’s demo service. If you’ve got more time to kill and/or creep yourself out, you can also spend it online with EA’s Dead Space 2 and Bulletstorm, as well as CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher 2.
