Xbox One gets a Chatpad and over-the-air TV recording

Xbox One is getting its own official controller chatpad, ideal for chatting, messaging, and searching without having to shout at your Kinect. The button-laden new peripheral was revealed at Xbox’s Gamescom stage show, along with the ability to record over-the-air broadcasts.

The Xbox One Chatpad, which is available for pre-order now, also comes with two programmable buttons that you can use for quick access to system features – like taking screenshots and immediately sharing them with friends.

And if you have an Xbox One-compatible tuner and an external hard drive, you’ll be able to record over the air broadcasts even while you’re playing a game. You’ll have to wait until 2016 for that feature to roll out to all systems, though Preview Program members will likely get it a bit earlier.
