The Vanishing of Ethan Carter will appear on PS4 next week, according to the UK PlayStation Store (opens in new tab). The supernatural crime thriller, which first hit PC in September, is set to release on PlayStation Network on July 15.
The game lets players explore the unfamiliar countryside of Red Creek Valley as Paul Prospero, a private investigator with the uncanny ability to re-live the final living moments of murder victims. He uses that mysterious power to track the aforementioned Ethan Carter, a young boy gone missing, through unnervingly beautiful, “photogrammetrically” rendered environs.
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter was created by The Astronauts, a small Polish studio composed of former People Can Fly developers who departed after completing Bulletstorm (opens in new tab) – which is about as close to a 180 as you can pull while still making a first-person video game.
Neither Sony nor The Astronauts have confirmed the date outside of the PSN listing, though the studio did tease back on June 30 that the release is “mere weeks” away, and has been tweeting (opens in new tab) about last-minute crunch since then.
