It’s not every day you get a message from Sony studio boss Shuhei Yoshida about a stolen game but that’s what’s happening.
Speaking on the EU blog (opens in new tab) Shu says a number of copies of Uncharted 4 “were stolen while in transit” and some of these are now appearing in the UK. At a guess I’d say Sony can see them being played via online PS4s.
It’s unclear if this has anything to do with the copies of Uncharted 4 that apparently broke street date (opens in new tab) yesterday (not all of those were in the UK and I’ve asked Sony for clarfication on that) but the message from Shu is this: “we wanted to warn you to beware of the potential for spoilers to be posted by people with access to stolen copies of the game”.
After the apparent early release of the game yesterday, director Neil Druckmann posted a similar message on Twitter:
Uncharted 4 is just two weeks away! As we get closer it’ll get harder and harder to control leaks. Stay vigilant. Big surprises in store.April 26, 2016

The theft is currently part of an ongoing criminal investigation says Shu, with Sony working with the police to “resolve the matter”.
