Star Trek: Discovery (opens in new tab) is slowly but surely revealing bits and pieces of the upcoming CBS All-Access show, from casting news (opens in new tab) to an extensive teaser (opens in new tab). In fact, something in that teaser looked suspiciously like a Klingon and, thanks to an over-eager crew member, we’re now able to see what the Klingons look like in all of their glory. Remember people: loose lips sink ships (and give us pictures of Klingons, naturally).
First spotted on TrekBBS (opens in new tab), a crew member snapped a shot of the Klingon cast members enjoying lunch.

Klingon eating habits aside, the new-look Klingons have taken a leaf out of several Star Trek books: they’re not too dissimilar to the Star Trek: Into Darkness cameo Klingon and, perhaps more obviously, they look like the Klingon designs from Star Trek: The Motion Picture (opens in new tab), which you can see below, as well as the original first glimpse at Star Trek: Discover’s Klingon designs from the teaser:
The ridges on the Klingons’ backs and battle armour hint (according to fan speculation) at some sort of lost Klingon race involving a sarcophagus ship first shown in early concept art (opens in new tab), with the key takeaway being they’re some sort of Klingon forerunners. I’m sure ancient Klingons are nice and reasonable…
Check out the nifty-looking golden Klingon too. Some sort of Klingon leader or main villain, perhaps?
What do you think of the new Klingon designs? Is it the best of both worlds? Vote in the poll below and sound off in the comments!
