X-Men: Apocalypse is set to restore a familiar face to its roster of characters, with Rose Byrne lined up to return to action as Moira McTaggart.
Last seen in X-Men: First Class, Byrne sat out most recent outing Days Of Future Past, but according to producer Simon Kinberg, she will have a key role to play in the forthcoming film.
“She’s a significant character in the movie,” says Kinberg to EW (opens in new tab). “We ended First Class with Charles having wiped portions of her memory of her experience with the X-Men. They are, essentially, strangers to her when she meets them.”
“It’s certainly a rich relationship that we started to dig into in First Class,” he continues, “and would like to mine more in this one.”
It’s good to learn that the third film in the reinvented franchise will pick up some of the First Class threads sacrificed for Days Of Future Past, with McTaggart a key figure in X-Men lore who has yet to receive the full spotlight on the big screen.
Directed by Bryan Singer and featuring new additions Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan and Alexandra Shipp, X-Men: Apocalypse will open in the UK on 19 May 2016, and in the US on 27 May 2016.
