King Kong prequel Kong: Skull Island is set to add some monster movie expertise to its production team, with THR (opens in new tab) reporting that Jurassic World co-writer Derek Connolly has signed on to work on the script.

A regular creative partner of Colin Trevorrow, Connolly has been brought on board to polish up the work done by existing screenwriters Max Borenstein, John Gatins and Max Gilroy. Could there be a big dino-battle on the cards somewhere? We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed…

According to the official logline, the film will tell the story of “a team of explorers venturing into the mysterious, creature-laden isle that is also the home of the king of the apes”. Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson are set to head up a cast that also includes Straight Outta Compton’s Corey Hawkins, with Jordan Vogt-Roberts directing. Kong: Skull Island is expected to open in the UK and US on March 10, 2017.
