Fortnite map changes

Significant Fortnite map changes mainly come around at the start of a new season, though small tweaks are also being made regularly to the landscape of the battle royale to fit with the latest ongoing storyline. The Imagined Order are currently going through a resurgence after being banished underground by The Seven, so you’ll see their presence has increased with several new locations dedicated to their activities in Fortnite. If you’re looking to catch up on the recent island updates, then here are the biggest Fortnite map changes.

As you can see from the full Fortnite map above, there have been a few changes initiated recently. One of the main updates is the presence of red and blue lines, to indicate which enclosed areas are under the control of the Imagined Order (red) and the Resistance (blue), so expect these to move around as the season progresses. There are now 16 named locations marked on the map as follows, with new or renamed POIs shown in bold:

  • Camp Cuddle
  • Chonker’s Speedway
  • Command Cavern
  • Condo Canyon
  • Coney Crossroads
  • The Daily Bugle
  • The Fortress
  • Greasy Grove
  • The Joneses
  • LogJam Lumberyard
  • Rocky Reels
  • Sanctuary
  • Shifty Shafts
  • Sleepy Sound
  • Synapse Station
  • Tilted Towers

Command Cavern

Covert Cavern has now expanded further above ground to become Command Cavern, with an Airship dock built right on top of the mountain. If you climb aboard that Airship you can fight against Huntmaster Saber, or head into the underground base to take on Gunnar.

The Fortress

As seen burrowing out of the ground during the opening cinematic, The Fortress is a giant drilling vehicle just to the southeast of Command Cavern, making that whole area a solid stronghold for the Imagined Order. You can fight with Slone here, but watch out as she splits into multiple clones that all attack you.

IO Airships

Above each POI controlled by the Imagined Order you’ll find an IO Airship, which you can reach by ziplining up the tether wires holding it in place. There are several IO Guards to deal with up there, but you’ll also find special chests with a variety of powerful weapons to make it worth the effort of attacking.

Synapse Station

Synapse Station is a new POI in the desert to the southwest of the island, and represents the first fightback from the Resistance. The main building is a workshop developing an armored battle bus vehicle, which you can expect to be usable later in the season once enough research has been funded.
