Dead Rising 2: Off the Record video covers Frank Wests war coverage. Also: Electric Crusher!

We have a love/hate relationship with the Dead Rising series: We love the creative, over-the-top, zombie-crushing violence and comedic sensibilities, while we hate the time-attack structure and boring grind. For all the changes we wished Capcom implemented in Dead Rising 2, replacing series star Frank West with father/motocross star Chuck Greene was one modification we wish the devs had skipped. October’s update to the sequel, Dead Rising 2: Off the Record recasts that adventure and replaces Greene with the intrepid photojournalist. Today’s trailer for the title gives new players a little history about the man. (Hint: He’s covered wars.)

Truly illuminating. As long as we’re talking about DR2 vids, during Comic-Con last week Capcom gave us a glimpse of the newest addition to Dead Rising’s weapon’s chest: the Electric Crusher. This new combination makes you a low-rent Thor as you smash your massive, super-charged hammer into zombies to gain massive PP. What will they think of next?
