In perhaps the mostbizarre story (opens in new tab)of the month, we learned today that two employees of Bohemia Interactive, the developer behind the Arma series, were arrested on charges of espionage in Greece as they were discovered to be carrying a large amount of pictures and videos of Greek military installations.
We don’t know who the two men are, only that they are 28 and 33 years old and have defended themselves by saying they were collecting reference material for the upcoming sequel, Arma 3 (opens in new tab). There’s no word yet on whether the Greek authorities are buying this – undoubtedly true – excuse for gathering sensitive information.
We’ll be watching this story closely for further developments. It’s likely this will be ironed out in short order as the company (and its well-established history) is verified by the Greeks. But we’ve got a feeling Bohemia will remember to contact the local embassy before going behind enemy lines on a reconnaissance mission again.
