In some of the most surprising casting news this year, Tom Hardy looks set to play both notorious London gangsters Ronald and Reginald Kray in crime thriller Legend .
The Dark Knight Rises (opens in new tab) star is currenlty in negotations to headline the film as the infamous, identical twins, who carved a bloody path through London in the ’50s and ’60s with their gang The Firm.
Legend (which is a working title, and may change) is being written and directed by Brian Helgeland, whose previous credits include stand-out crime adaptation L.A. Confidential (opens in new tab) and Mystic River (opens in new tab) , which suggests Helgeland will be delivering something unapologetic and hard-hitting.
Though a deal’s yet to be struck, we’d love to see Hardy in this cray cray role.
He’ll next shoot Elton John biopic Rocketman , with Mad Max: Fury Road, Locke and Child 44 already in the can.
