Star Wars Rogue One poster

Update: November 28, 2016

A new Star Wars: Rogue One (opens in new tab) poster has been released and it’s really different from the usual montage images we see. I knew Rogue One was going to be a different sort of Star Wars movie as soon as it released its first full-colour poster of a beautiful paradise island as a battle setting, but since then, Disney has released some more ‘traditional’ Star Wars posters for the spin-off.

This latest offering will surely remind fans that they don’t know what to expect come December, as it’s like nothing they’ll have seen before. The black and red poster emphasises the message that this is a movie about the rebellion before A New Hope. Plus, it’s exclusively available (opens in new tab) to the first 1,000 fans to buy Star Wars: Rogue One tickets in person at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.

While that’s no good for most of us, you can still enjoy the striking new poster in full below. And keep on scrolling for every Rogue One poster released so far.

Directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker, and Alan Tudyk, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is scheduled to open in UK on December 15, 2016 and in the US a day later.

Update: November 25, 2016

Because one IMAX Star Wars: Rogue One poster just isn’t enough, we now have three more and they look more like works of art than movie posters. Given an almost hand-drawn effect, my favourite has to be the one of the Rogue One team overlaid on Darth Vader’s iconic helmet. I want it for my wall!

Update: November 15, 2016

The IMAX poster for Star Wars: Rogue One (opens in new tab) is here – revealed exclusively by USA Today (opens in new tab) – and it’s just as sleek and stylish as the rest of the Rogue One posters. It’s also a bit of a walking advertisement for Star Wars’ various spaceships as you can see the white silhouette of the Death Star in the background, with the black silhouette of a Star Destroyer on top of it, and then X-wings surrounding the faces of the cast.

Update: November 8, 2016

This week has seen a few new promo pieces of Star Wars: Rogue One (opens in new tab) hit the web; a killer TV spot (opens in new tab) showcasing what looks like an epic battle, a gallery of behind-the-scenes pics (opens in new tab), and also a couple of new international posters. These nifty one-sheets come courtesy of Rogue One screenwriter Gary Whitta, who shared them via Twitter. (opens in new tab)

The whole gang’s here hovering in front of the Death Star. Although, not literally. Yes, it’s business as usual art-wise, as the main cast wear stern expressions and gaze off into different directions. Check them out below…

Update: October 18, 2016

Off the back of the new Star Wars: Rogue One trailer (opens in new tab) being released last week, Disney have now revealed the new character posters for the movie as well. There’s not much else to say except that everyone from Jyn Erso to Orson Krennic seems to have the Death Star plans illuminated across their faces. Sadly, Vader doesn’t get his own poster but these are still pretty cool.

Check out the new Star Wars: Rogue One posters (and every other poster that’s been released so far) below…

Update: October 13, 2016

Star Wars: Rogue One (opens in new tab)director Gareth Edwards appeared on The Star Wars Show to reveal a new poster, as well as teasing a new trailer for today. The new image follows the classical ensemble the series is so well know for, and as noted by starwars.com, (opens in new tab) the new poster covers just about covers everything:

“The poster features a massive looming Death Star and the haunting visage of Darth Vader within. They’re matched only by Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso and her band of Rebels below, while TIE strikers, TIE fighters, U-wings, and X-wings take flight. The bottom of the poster finds the striking image of stormtroopers in the waters of Scarif, the principal construction facility for the vast Imperial war machine, with AT-ACT walkers following close behind.”

Obviously the big thing here is that menacing Vader looming over Erso Jyn’s shoulder. There’s also what looks like the Death Star plans creeping over her face – a doomy warning of what this whole film is about. Scroll down to see the full sized poster for yourself…

Update: October 5, 2016

Since director Gareth Edwards first discussed his approach to Star Wars: Rogue One (opens in new tab) things looked good for the galactic spin-off. It wouldn’t be a pointless copy of pre-existing Star Wars movies. Nope. This was being pegged as it’s own thing – a proper war movie. Now obviously all of the films in the franchise are about war. It’s right there in the title. But Rogue One’s new international poster hones in on the darker side of what that really means.

There’s something haunting about seeing a fallen rebel helmet, wedged into the sand, as a horde of imperial forces advance. It’s tragic and beautiful all at the same time. Take a look below…

Update: September 16, 2016

Star Wars’ official Twitter account (opens in new tab) unveiled two new international posters for Star Wars: Rogue One (opens in new tab) – which is a little over three months away from its cinematic debut – and both one-sheets put Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso in the limelight. Check them out both out below…

Both posters are relatively simple when it comes to design, but the Japanese one-sheet in particular – which shows Jones’ Erso with the Death Star looming in the background – does a good job of blending the new with the familiar, something which the film itself is attempting to do. We’ll find out whether or not it succeeds in December.

Update: July 15, 2016

The panel for Star Wars: Rogue One (opens in new tab) took place earlier today, and among the reveals was a brand new poster for the film. The gorgeous one-sheet – which shows the rebel forces battling stormtroopers while the Death Star looms large in the sky – is notably bright, which is mildly surprising when you consider the grim war tone that Rogue One is apparently going for. We’ll see if the new trailer follows suit when it lands online.

Until then, you can check out the new poster below…
