At $50/£40, the Star Wars Battlefront (opens in new tab) season pass (opens in new tab) doesn’t come cheap. Some clarity over what it contains might make the decision easier: it will deliver 16 maps, four additional Heroes and Villains, four new game modes, a special emote, and 20 pieces of tech (weapons, vehicles, Star Cards, etc). Keep in mind we’ve yet to review the base experience ahead of Battlefront’s launch next week.
Let’s take a look at this content a little closer. Battlefront will launch with 12 maps, which means the season pass will more than double the number of locales in which to do battle; the additional Heroes and Villains will bring the number of playable icons from 6 to 10; and the four new modes will bump the total from 9 to 13.
From a purely mathematical perspective, it’s not like these are insubstantial additions – the lowest increase in content is still an uptick of more than 40 percent. It’s just a matter of whether or not you feel like turning off your targeting computer and putting your trust in the Force. Which in this analogy … would be EA and DICE.
