Miles Teller has given a brief update on Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four, promising that the new film will “humanise” the much-loved comic-book super-team.
“We’re making it our own,” Teller tells MovieFone (opens in new tab) of the film’s relationship with the source material. “We’re taking a lot from the Ultimate Fantastic Four, but I think we’re humanising these characters in a way that’s never been done.”
He also touches on how the characters will develop leading into a second film, suggesting that by that stage, the team will have evolved into something a little closer to the comic-book set-up…
“We’ll see what happens,” says Teller, “but yes, absolutely, as the thing evolves they should start to materialise to the Fantastic Four people more readily associate with.”
And while Teller is non-committal as to whether Trank will return for round two, he’s very forthcoming on screenwriter Simon Kinberg…
“I’m assuming Kinberg is going to be back because he is so good at creating those worlds,” says the star. “He’s invaluable to Fox. He’s really smart and seems to have a good handle on these worlds and what he was able to do with X-Men and being able to re-energise that with the younger cast.”
Co-starring Kate Mara, Jamie Bell and Michael B. Jordan, Fantastic Four will open in the UK on 6 August 2015, and the US the following day.
