As you probably already know, there are four main types of collectibles to discover in Naughty Dog’s zombie opus: Firefly Pendants, comics, artifacts and training manuals. If you’re looking to complete your ever-impressive trophy collection, you’ll need to nab every single last one of them.
Whether you’re returning to the game after sobbing your eyes out in The Last of Us 2 or are one of the lucky PS5 owners who get the game as part of the PS Plus Collection Games, there’s never really a bad time to enjoy this gaming classic.

The Quarantine Zone – Beyond the Wall
Artifact #1-2: Boston Q.Z. Map, Military Pamphlet
These are automatically in Joel’s possession once you collect your backpack.
Firefly Pendant #1
After climbing the ladder into the abandoned house, move through the kitchen and past the stairs to find a bedroom. On the desk in here is your first pendant.
Artifact #3: Note to Brother
Just after your first encounter with the infected, you’ll head up some stairs. Before exiting the building, turn left and open the door. In this room, you’ll find a note on the table near the window.
Firefly Pendant #2
Just after exiting the building with your first plank, Joel will tell Tess to check for soldiers. In the very next area, look up to spot this pendant dangling from a tree branch. Shoot it to drop it into grabbing range.
The Quarantine Zone – The Slums
Artifact #4: Drafting Notice
Just after moving through the bus, this hard to spot collectible will be on the ground near a table.
Artifact #5: Wanted Poster
Just a few steps past the previous artifact, you can spot this poster is attached to a storage unit. It too can be collected.
Artifact #6: Warehouse Key
You’ll obtain this while learning about stealth kills. Once you hop into the office room and take out the thug, he’ll drop the key.
Artifact #7: Shipping Manifest
Once you reach the wharf, Joel will automatically jump off the ledge and into cover. From here, move right to find this artifact near the railing.
Artifact #8: Dock Notes
Just before reaching Robert’s office, you’ll be in a dry dock. Head to the side of the suspended boat opposite the office to find this artifact behind a dumpster.
The Quarantine Zone – The Cargo
Firefly Pendant #3
Upon starting your travels with Ellie, head straight forward to find a dead body against a newspaper dispenser. This pendant is in its hands.
The Outskirts – Outside
Artifact #9: Tess’ List
Before you shimmy through the broken wall in the apartment, turn around and pick this artifact up off the nightstand in the other room.
Artifact #10: Patrol Routes Map
Make a right after stepping off the elevator to find this next to a boiler.
The Outskirts – Downtown
Artifact #11: Evacuation Leaflet
After climbing up to the highway in the rain, bear right to move toward a traffic light. This sits beneath it.
Firefly Pendant #4
Before entering the Goldstone Building (the slanted building after you view the destroyed downtown area), continue forward into the little park area. Here, you’ll find another pendant dangling from a tree. Shoot it down to pick it up.
Artifact #12: Field Ops Log
As you ascend the staircase inside the Goldstone Building, you’ll pass a second dead soldier. This lies next to him.
Artifact #13: Firefly Map
When you reach the bottom of the building, you’ll receive your first Molotov. Just beyond is a short staircase. Ascend it to find another artifact near a dead body.
Artifact #14: Note to Derek
On your way out of the subway beneath the building, Tess will have Ellie follow you around as you encounter several Clickers. Take a left from where you being this encounter to find a convenience store. You’ll find this inside the store’s cash register.
The Outskirts – Museum
Artifact #15: Medical Pamphlet
Once you use the desk to climb over the truck, turn around and enter the same truck. You’ll find this inside.
Firefly Pendant #5
Just after the workbench, you’ll ascend via a broken part of the ceiling. Make a left to shimmy across the ledge up here. A pendant waits on the other side.
The Outskirts – The Capitol Building
Artifact #16: Firefly Orders
After descending the stairs, turn around to find this lying next to a dead body.
Firefly Pendant #6
While moving through the green muck, bear left to reach the gazebo. Inside, you’ll find this pendant next to one of the columns.
Artifact #17: Smuggler Note
As you swim through the flooded subway, you’ll come to a ladder on a higher ledge. Directly across from this is a lower ledge (near Ellie) you can climb on to. This artifact lies next to corpse on that ledge.
Firefly Pendant #7
Immediately beyond the previous artifact is a spot where you can dive. Do so to find a flooded office. You’ll also find a pendant on the shelves inside.
Bill’s Town – The Woods
Artifact #18: Pills Note
Next to the gate you boost Ellie over is a red brick building. Enter it and head upstairs to find a small office. On the other side of the desk, you’ll find this on the floor.
Artifact #19: Note to Bob
As you head down the street past the evacuation notices, make your way to the barricade at the end. Tangled in the barbed wire is another artifact.
Firefly Pendant #8
On the same street is an RV. Climb to its roof to find a pendant up here.
Artifact #20: Perimeter Note
Near where you encounter Bill’s wire traps is the Marquis Music Store. Enter and head to the back room to find this atop a desk.
Artifact #21: Note to Rachel
When you return to street level, make a left and follow the alleyway to find a shaking door. Enter this house and head upstairs to the living room. After taking out the infected, you can grab this off of the table against the wall.
Bill’s Town – Safehouse
Artifact #22: Bill’s Map
Once inside Bill’s safehouse, look to the stack of crates near the bar. This rests atop them.
Artifact #23: Fences Note
Then turn around and enter the small back room to find this next artifact atop a small table.
Training Manual #1: Shiv Sharpening
Before leaving the first floor, check the bar to find your first manual.
Artifact #24: Hunters Note
Make a right at the top of the stairs to enter a kitchen. You’ll find this on a small table inside.
Firefly Pendant #9
As soon as you exit the safehouse, make a right and head to the end of the street. Look up to spot a pendant dangling from a streetlight. Shoot it down to put it into grabbing range.
Artifact #25: Bombs Note
When heading through the top floor of the church, take right before the exit window to enter Bills’ room. On his desk is another artifact.
Bill’s Town – Graveyard
Firefly Pendant #10
After sneaking through the church garden, you’ll move through some backyards. Make your way up the hill to the large green house and enter. Locate the laundry room, and you’ll spot this pendant atop the washing machine.
Artifact #26: Boy’s Diary
When exploring the last house before the high school, head upstairs and take a right. Make another right inside this children’s room to find an artifact near the window.
Bill’s Town – High School Escape
Artifact #27: Note from Frank
Before pushing the car, take some time to explore the house. Head to the back room to find this atop a desk.
Artifact #28: Note from Frank (Crumpled)
After collecting the Note from Frank, speak to Bill in the garage. He’ll read the note and throw it on the ground in anger. You can then pick the note up again – it counts as another collectible.
Pittsburgh – Alone and Forsaken
Artifact #29: Siphon Hose
Bill will give this to Joel at the end of the previous chapter.
Comic #1: Force Carrier
This is automatically in your possession upon starting the chapter.
Artifact #30: Tourists Manifest
Once you enter the hunters’ garage, look for the overturned tool cabinet in a corner of the room. This lies on top of it.
Training Manual #2: Health Splinting
Once you head up the stairs, make a right to find a room with several mattresses on the floor. Near the centre of the room is a rack. You’ll find this manual on the bottom shelf.
Artifact #31: Ambush Map
Before exiting the building through the brown door, head down the hall through grey one. Turn around upon entering to find this pinned to the wall.
Comic #2: Termination Shock
Once you drop to the ground from the hunters’ building, you’ll be near a bus. Step aboard and make a left to find this on the ground in the rear.
Artifact #32: Lost Hill Note
When you reach the checkpoint, hop over the right sandbag pile (the one near the graffiti that Ellie points out). Check in the booth here for a well hidden artifact.
Artifact #33: Traitors Flyer
After moving through the turnstile, there will be a large covered area in front of you. Head toward it and turn around to find this plastered to the wall.
Firefly Pendant #11
On the far end of the large bookstore is an alley. Head down it to find a pendant behind an overturned shelf.
Artifact #34: Abandon Zone Note
On the opposite side of the bookstore is another alley. Head down it, enter the building, and make a right. Mantle the first ledge and turn left to find this item sitting on a desk.
Artifact #35: Applicant Checklist
Before heading to the top floor of the bookstore, head to the front of the store and check behind the staircase there. You’ll find another artifact underneath.
Artifact #36: Lost Areas Map
Use the staircase near the centre of the store to reach the top floor of the building, and make a left. In this corner is a locked door you can open with a shiv. Do so to find lots of supplies and this artifact.
Artifact #37: Mother’s Letter
Proceed until a short cut scene with hunters taking a plank occurs. Make an immediate left to spot a door marked with a red “X.” Use a shiv to open this door, and you’ll find an artifact atop a chair directly inside.
Artifact #38: Stash Note
When you swim through the green muck to help Ellie reach the plank, hang left toward this submerge storage unit. Swim through it (you’ll have to eventually) to enter a flooded a building with a staircase in the rear. Head up, and follow the room as it wraps around to find an artifact sitting on a desk.
Pittsburgh – Hotel Lobby
Artifact #39: Note to Staff
After using the ladder to bypass the broken staircase, turn right. You can shimmy along the edges here to reach an open suitcase in front of some double doors. This note lies inside that suitcase.
Training Manual #3: Shiv Reinforcement
With the Note to Staff in hand, you can open the safe in the lobby. Drop to the ground floor and look behind the check in desk for said safe. Another manual lies inside.
Artifact #40: Hotel Keycard
You’ll find this in the area where you fight the Bloater. After taking out all the infected, head to the upper floor via the stairwell. Follow the rooms as they wrap around to the right to find a security room. In here, this artifact rests next to a stack of televisions. (This unlocks your exit door, so you’ll need to obtain it anyway.)
Comic #3: Accretion
Once Ellie saves you, climb the ladder and enter the next room. Exit via the left door to spot a bar across a gap. You can shimmy over there, where you’ll find another comic atop a table.
Firefly Pendant #12
Soon after, you’ll drop down to a lower floor. As you turn down the hallway, there will be two restroom entrances on your left. Enter the second and head to the corner stall to find this on the ground near the toilet.
Training Manual #4: Melee Knots
Just past the elevators on the same side of the hallway is a desk with a red chair. This manual sits on that desk.
Pittsburgh – Financial District
Artifact #41: Fireflies Note
Battle your way through the plaza where Joel gives Ellie the rifle, and head forward. On the right will be a building labelled Don Fiocchi Subs. Enter and head to the back room with the blood smear to find this item on the floor.
Artifact #42: Final Attack Note
After ascending the staircase and taking out the two patrolling hunters, take a right before dropping to street level. In this small office room, an artifact lies beneath a desk.
Artifact #43: Mob Attack Note
As you come around a corner street, there will be enemies on a ledge of the Delta Direct building. Head inside that building via the doorway under the sign and take the stairs. Once on the top floor, check behind the large desk for a hidden artifact.
Artifact #44: Truck Note
Before leaving the area, you’ll pass by the Ration Depot. Enter and move straight ahead past the first desk to find an artifact sitting atop a second desk.
