If you bought one of those Gears of War Ultimate Edition (opens in new tab) Xbox One bundles, or can get your hands on one fast, you still have time to claim early access to the Gears of War 4 (opens in new tab) beta. Just log in to Xbox Live and play the Ultimate Edition by tomorrow, March 1, and you’ll reserve your early spot – and yes, you do have to have the bundle, not just the game.
Update: Nope, you don’t need the bundle! It turns out it works with just the game, too – I was reading this page (opens in new tab) wrong. Sorry for the confusion! Now back to the story.
If you still haven’t used the Ultimate Edition code included with the bundle, you’d better get installing now – it’s a 44 GB download, and you’ll also need patches to play online. Back in July Microsoft announced that the beta would go live sometime this spring (opens in new tab). It hasn’t narrowed down that window yet, but at least you’ll get in before everybody else, whenever it is.
If extra time with the latest Gears game still isn’t enough to justify the effort, then might I tempt you with a remastered Cole Train Rap (opens in new tab)?
