Following hot on the heels of Patrick Stewart’s teasing comments last week, Famke Janssen has also suggested that an X-Men return might be on the cards for her character, Jean Grey.
The last we saw of her, Jean was lying dead in the arms of Wolverine, having been almost entirely overtaken by the Phoenix entity. However, Janssen suggests their might be life left in the character yet.
“One never knows,” said Janssen. “Jean Grey, the Phoenix… she finds a way to reincarnate herself constantly, so one never knows. Stay tuned.” Could she crop up in Days Of Future Past , then? Given that there are separate timelines involved, it’s a possibility.
Days Of Future Past is the forthcoming sequel to X-Men: First Class , and will see Kitty Pryde sending a message from the future to her younger self warning the X-Men that the assassination of Senator Kelly will lead to the rise of the Sentinels, and the internment of mutants into prison camps.
Directed by Matthew Vaughn from a script by frequent collaborator Jane Goldman (among others), the film will open in the UK on 18 July 2014. Maybe with some familiar old faces in tow…
