Mere days after Fox announced preliminary plans to resurrect ‘90s sci-fi smash, The X-Files, one of its leading duo – David Duchovny – has expressed his enthusiasm to return.
In an interview with USA Today (opens in new tab), he says he’d be “…more than happy and excited to bring it back and do it again with [co-star] Gillian and [series creator] Chris [Carter]… I’m assuming that it will happen sooner rather than later now.”
He adds: “We’ll see what form, how many (episodes). Certainly I can’t nor would I be interested in doing a full season. It will be in some kind of limited form. We’re all old, we don’t have the energy for a full season.”
Talk of the show’s revival rolling out as a limited series kickstarted three days ago when Fox first announced the possibility of a new X-Files run. With Duchovny keen to return to the mysterious world of conspiracy theories under those circumstances, it’s only a matter of time before Gillian Anderson throws in her two cents.
As series creator Chris Carter already dropped a few sly hints last summer concerning a possible reboot, does this mean we might see The X-Files return to the small screen sooner rather than later?
